One of the most common questions we get at Grassroots Salon & Spa is:

“What’s the difference between single color, all over color, highlights, and platinum?”

Choosing the correct service ensures we have the right amount of time booked for you and allows your stylist to deliver the most beautiful, healthy result possible.

Let’s break it down.

Single Color (New Growth Application)

A single formula applied to the new growth only.

This service is ideal for:

Grey coverage
Root touch-ups
Maintaining an existing solid shade

This appointment does not include foils or lightening. It is designed to maintain what you already have.

If you’re simply covering regrowth and keeping your look consistent, this is likely the service for you.

All Over Color

One color applied from root to ends.

Perfect for:

Refreshing faded color
Going darker
Creating a uniform, solid shade

There are no foils and no blonding in this service. It is one consistent color throughout.

If your goal is richness and shine without dimension, this is probably the service for you.

Custom Color

This is where artistry comes in.

Custom Color combines multiple techniques and is fully tailored to your goals. This may include:

A new growth application + highlights or lowlights
A full highlight (foil application, not bleach on scalp)
Balayage
Dimensional blonding

If your inspiration photo shows brightness, depth, contrast, or multiple tones — you are likely looking for a Custom Color service.

When in doubt, book Custom Color.

Partial Highlight

Foils placed primarily through the crown and top of the head.

This service:

Can include highlights or lowlights

If you just need brightness around your part line or face framing refreshed, this is a great in-between option.

Platinum Blonde (Bleach on Scalp)

This service is in a category of its own.

Platinum is a solid, high-lift blonde achieved through a bleach-on-scalp application.

No foils
No dimension
One uniform blonde tone

This is not the same as an All Over Color. Platinum requires more time, precision, and a more intensive lightening process.

Because of its complexity, this service is priced per hour and we strongly recommend scheduling a consultation prior to booking.
